Hey Guys,
I heard you got to meet Robert Wickser from Conway, Arkansas. Isn't Wickser the biggest pompous a**??? He says he is some third cousin of Gene Scott or something and goes around town acting like he is so full of tennis knowledge when really he is full of himself. His tennis game exhibits his real knowledge that he is some 3.0 tennis player with very little skill level. I think he is on the CHCCC Board-Coalition for the Historic Courthouse Cultural Center that meets at the Faulkner County Museum.

Anonymous said...

Is Robert Wickser the dude that acted rudely to the 8 & 10 year olds at the novice tournament? There were lots of parents that overheard his mumblings and bumblings. Post a picture of him on facebook and let the women/mothers rip him to threads!!!

Robert Wickser Jr. is some wannabe that moved into Arkansas, settled into the Conway area, joined some groups such as Friends of UCA who donate below $125(The Coffee Club donates $125-$249, so he doesn't get free coffee), CHCCC, Conway Area Tennis whose meetings include maybe 5 people who show regularly at meetings, etc.

Guys, I looked for a Robert Wickser in USTA and found no player in tournament or league play. He probably is a know-it-all with no real experience as a tennis player, similar to a couch potato that never played football but knows more about the game than professional coaches!!! Drive Time Sports material is all Wickser is!!!

Anonymous said...

Wickser could have purchased tickets to UCA Theatre events and UCA would have added his name to the Friends of UCA list.

Well it's about time the truth is coming out about this guy. Chuck and Cindy have been so so wonderful and such a blessing to our community, tennis in our community and the children of Conway. My kids have taken from them for years and I know them well. They are a Godsend. Thank you for all you're doing C & C!!
Now- Chuck and Cindy have worked with the parks and rec in town since being at Gatling Park. Our kids have played out of there regularly- with permission. C &C donated their time (again) and put together a couple tournaments for the kids. With only two courts to work with and two age divisions no doubt it has been tough to schedule. Plus they worked around all our schedules so all the kids got to play. It's been a HUGE success! I don't want to imagine the hours those two have put into it all but thank you both!
The one ugly part. I went to watch my child's match yesterday as many other parents did and saw a man on a bicycle pull up by the gate. I had seen him before. He did his best to stir up trouble and even wanted the children to stop playing so he and the two small girls with him could play. I overheard him make ugly remarks to the kids even! I was LIVID! Thank you Chuck for diffusing the situation. Every parent there was watching, knew the guy was a nut and simply wanted him gone! He could've gone to Laurel down the street but instead chose to hang out and attempt to harass for over an hour??
Please keep in mind this man is at least 65-70 y/o! Incredible! I did feel very sorry for the two small girls with him as they seemed obviously embarrassed by his behavior plus kept looking towards the courts with wishful eyes. Too bad the old fart won't let them in a great program. It was painful to see their wanting eyes and disturbing to see a grown man act with no regard in front of the children of Conway who were on the courts playing tennis.
The truth always comes to light.

Wicked Wickser is still in an identity crisis!!! He called himself an inventor by trade.

Anonymous said...

What kind of patent does he hold?

Anonymous said...

Wickser holds a patent on a firearm cleaning doohickey. I think he took a coathanger and toothbrush and duct tape the two together so you could run it down a barrel of a rifle or shotgun

The uppity acting Robert Wickser Jr. that moved into the Conway area is probably not the same Wickser related to Robert Livingston Wickser Jr. The Wickser Jr. in Conway does not use the initial L in describing himself. Someone out there will comment on who this character is besides some egotistical hindrance to the growth of tennis. An old man like Wickser should defer to the children enjoying a day at the park than thinking of himself. What a PATHETIC CREATURE Wickser is!!!

Anonymous said...

Was the guy peddling his little bicycle thru the park the dude you guys are talking about?

Anonymous said...

The Robert Wickser in Conway operates as RW Products. I haven't checked on his product line but we should definitely post his products on the boycott list of the web.

Anonymous said...

Guys,
A Robert Wickser lives at 2418 Jessica Dr, Conway, AR, US. I am from out of town but the locals could check this out for you. Glad to offer help anytime!!!

A Mom said...

If this is the guy on the bike he is nothing but a menace. An insect to be eradicated. Here I am sitting with my husband and family of small children watching one child play a match. This guy wanted him and his opponent to leave the court so he could play! He had the audacity to tell this to my child and the child he was playing! I had to hold my husband back with both hands from attacking the grinch! We've had so many enjoyable moments thanks to Pinnacle Tennis and I wasn't going to allow this old geezer to spoil one second of fun for any of our family. If he keeps up the dirty deeds I will not hold back my husband or any of the other dads who witnessed his charades however. He better be on best behavior and leave those kids alone!!

i have attended meetings with wickser and he is the type who freely offers his opinions on any topic. however, when it's time to do the real hard work on a situation he is never around.

Anonymous said...

Robert Wickser was never a tournament player much less a national level player. He is another opinionated jerk with no real professional training in the game of tennis. A great obstacle to the growth in the game of tennis is people like Wickser. You ought to attend the CHCCC meetings of 5 or less people and check out the depth of knowledge that he offers to that group. Some of the CHCCC members include Nancy Allen, Shirley Barham, Matt Chiorini, Wes Craiglow, Lauralee Wilcox McCool, Cindy Romeo, Lynita Langley-Ware, and Marianne Welch.

Some of Wickser's committee members are Steve Hurd, Vanessa Norton, Cindy Romeo, Kim Williams, Shirley Barham, Ree Walker, Joan Hanna, Lynita Langely-Ware, Nancy Allen and Marianne Welch. They could give you more info about where he is from.

Did you guys see where one of the South's top juniors Whitney Kay of Georgia signed to play college tennis at Univ of North Carolina? Her brother Casey signed with Univ of Georgia.

RW Products aka Robert Wickser has an air filter product that he reps for farm/heavy equipment. From all reviews the product is a joke and consumer reports does not even have a rating for it. Young Manufacturing in Michigan produces it. The product must produce very little income because by Wickser's address posted he lives in a governmental housing project.

Anonymous said...

While you are talking about Wickser, you ought to talk about that Leigh Ann Warriner, the 2.5 Women's player in Conway, who never won a match at the beginner level but claimed to know everything about the game.

Anonymous said...

Leigh Ann Warriner? I had completely forgot about her. Wasn't she the short, dumpy red-headed lady that was such a horrible tennis player that people didn't want her as a doubles partner? I think y'all rotated her around with different partners so that no one would be stuck with her throughout league play. Wow, she was a piece of work!!!

Anonymous said...

Leigh Ann Warriner is originally from Pine Bluff. Check with Trudy Pascale and others from P.B. who are real tennis players. If Warriner was ever a real tennis player, they would know of her. She probably is another jerk like Wickser that can't even play the game of tennis!

Anonymous said...

The Pine Bluff tennis players might remember Leigh Ann Warriner as Leigh Ann Rowland. They would know if she ever played tennis there.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice that EZ Tennis has forfeited its domain name on the web? Erick and Zarina Galvan McCarthy were another failure in helping to grow tennis in Conway. You guys should thank Wickser and Warriner for offering EZ Tennis suggestions on how to grow tennis. Erick and Zarina followed their advice. Look what they got- a Going Out of Business sign on the door!!!

Anonymous said...

Talking about Warriner from a woman's point of view- my mother taught me growing up that men are very visual when looking at a relationship. The person to feel sorry for is Warriner's husband. Poor guy, he doesn't get any eye candy looking at Leigh Ann each day!!!

Anonymous said...

Was Warriner that bossy woman with the butch hairdo like a man? She wasn't a delicate little thing, was she?

Anonymous said...

I've known Warriner and you are right that she doesn't come across as a classy feminine person. Guess what? She was in line at the checkout at Walmart and gave a quick left-right look as the clerk was scanning her items. I noticed Hanes boxer briefs being scanned. You've got to believe they were hers by her expression on her face. She is not the type that you would imagine that she is wearing some hot Victoria Secret underwear underneath her clothes.

Whitney Kay wasn't the only Southern junior girl to receive great college athletic scholarships. Frances Altick LA signed with Vanderbilt, Ellie Yates MS signed with USC, Kendal Woodard GA signed with Georgia Tech, Madeleine Hamilton NC signed with Yale, and Catherine Harrison TN signed with Georgia Tech.

Anonymous said...

Is the Leighann Warriner the same as the one that works at the Conway Digestive Health Center?

Anonymous said...

Guys,
Wickser was stalking y'all tonight at the tennis courts again. He is probably going to run like a baby to the parks director and whine that he couldn't get a tennis court. He was alone, on his little tricycle, no racquet in hand, and had no intention on playing tennis. His little scam will be exposed soon!

Anonymous said...

Thanks. We contacted Judge Amy Brazil and should be making a police report soon which she recommended in case something else happened. We would have a record. He has probably lied on other people before to try to get his way, sort of like a juvenile would do.

Anonymous said...

I've played at the park for maybe a thousand or more times and have never seen a guy named Robert Wickser play there. I think I saw him hit on the backboard on Prince Street once. The jerk is just a trouble maker in my eyes!

Anonymous said...

what is the word out there on the new parks and rec director, steve ibbotson? i knew brian knopp, the former director, that everyone loved- employees, citizens. he genuinely loved to serve people. any comments will be kept confidential unless wanted posted.

Anonymous said...

One complaint circulating about Ibbotson is that parents think a child will get injured or killed by a car with his new policy of picking up kids at the rec center. Ibbotson chose to abandon the policy which all schools use of cars pulling up so kids are not in danger by running into the parking lot. Ibbotson wants all the kids to run thru the parking lot to their parents car. It takes less time but risks a child getting seriously injured. Taking more time for children to reach their car but with less risk of injury is the school's policy but not Ibbotson's policy.

Anonymous said...

True on letting the kids run to the cars. I homeshool my children as do many prominent people in Conway. We are only allowed to come for basketball from 630-8am. Not exactly prime hours. I've seen publicly schooled children playing basketball in the afternoon at the time most programs for kids are. Ibbotson didn't want any cars circling to pick up kids so we now watch and pray as our children come out with their basketballs not looking-like most kids- to cross to the parents vehicle. An accident will happen soon I assure you.

Anonymous said...

Dudes,
Wickser is not the only one stalking you. Ibbotson is too! The little white SUV is watching what hours you are at the park. You will notice that it leaves the park when you load up tennis balls. If Ibbotson was interested in who uses the park, then the stalker would stay throughout the day to see who uses the park. If Ibbotson would have him stay all day, he would notice that you are about the only people that use it. I hope more people are reading this thread of news and pile on.

Anonymous said...

Wickser and Ibbotson are too stupid to realize that you guys train at the park regularly. They think you are running some busy program just because you are personally working out. Wick and Ibbo don't know that you guys are the only senior national players around here, similar to Chrissy and Stan Ferguson or Henry Hawk as the main senior long distance stars in the community!

Anonymous said...

Word is spreading down at Conway Corp. about the Steve Ibbotson. Conway Corp. does maintenance for the parks in different capacities and deals with Ibbotson a lot. Quote Conway Corp. employees-"Steve Ibbotson is a prick and is only interested in keeping his nose up the city councils rearend!"

Anonymous said...

Wow! I knew Ibbotson ran off some park employees that have worked for the city for years. If he can't get along with Conway Corp.,he won't be around for long. Conway Corp. has the money and floats the city when it is in trouble as it is now. The city is desperate to clean up its books so that its bond rating won't decline and borrowing costs go up.

Anonymous said...

Isn't Ibbotson the new little white-haired man running the parks?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, the little white-haired man is Ibbotson, the new parks/recreation director. Sometimes, it will look as if he tried to a little brown tint to his hair. But really he was brown nosing the council members, sneezed and jerked his head, and some brown goo got in his hair.

Anonymous said...

Don't Know If It Is True: Ibbotson was at an Advertising and Promotion meeting on raising revenue for the expo center. Everyone was eating and discussing city business. Flies seemed to gather around Ibbotson's plate of food. After reading this blog, the flies weren't after his food but his doodoo gel in his hair.

This article shows that Ibbotson's heart is not in helping Conway but Maumelle. He was Conway's parks/rec director while he applied for the alderman position in Maumelle.

Steve Ibbotson, Maumelle’s former Parks and Recreation director, has joined the Maumelle City Council as a Ward 4 alderman, filling a vacated position.
The City Council appointed Ibbotson on a second ballot vote over four other applicants. He will fill an open position resulting from former Alderman Brenton Witonski’s resignation Sept. 6.
Ibbotson, director of Conway’s Parks and Recreation Department since 2010, was Maumelle’s parks director from 1988-2007. He took his current job with Conway after three years as a sales representative for a sports lighting company, even though he has remained a Maumelle resident.
On Sept. 19, the council voted unanimously to allow Jan Hogue, the other Ward 4 alderman, to move into Witonski’s Position 2 seat and serve out the three years and three months remaining on his term.
The move follows a precedent the Maumelle council has followed with previous vacancies when the resigning alderman had more than one year left on an unexpired term.
Ibbotson’s Position 1 term will expire Dec. 31 next year. Ibbotson will be eligible to run in the November 2012 election for the position if he chooses, Mayor Mike Watson said in a memorandum to the council.
Along with Ibbotson, the other applicants on the ballot were Judy Gregory, Jess Holt, Michael Hoggard and Martin Marler. The first ballot narrowed the field to Ibbotson, Gregory and Hoggard.
Four aldermen — Jamie Stell, Burch Johnson, Doug Ladner and Tony Brainerd — voted on the second ballot for Ibbotson. Hoggard received votes from Rick Anderson and Ken Saunders. Hogue’s vote went to Gregory.
Witonski resigned after moving into another Maumelle ward.

This is outrageous!!! How can Ibbotson attend both council meetings of Conway and Maumelle-

So Ibbotson goes to Maumelle council meetings on Monday nights and Conway meetings on Tuesdays. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest? I thought cities competed against each other on certain projects (i.e. new jobs and industry moving into the state).

No wonder Ibbotson doesn't immediately respond to emails concerning Conway Park situations. He is too concerned with reading his email account relating to Maumelle problems.

Anonymous said...

the conway mayor should remove ibbotson similar to uca removing alan meadors for conflicts of interest

Anonymous said...

The city of Conway citizens should watch their wallets and oversee the parks budget. Ibbotson worked as a representative of an indoor/outdoor lighting company. If his former company Musco Lighting does any business with the city, then he might be receiving a kickback. Conway citizens should make sure that competitive bidding be done on any lighting expediture for the city and that Musco is not told what the other bids are before they close the bidding on the job.

Anonymous said...

The job responsibilities as a parks director are numerous and require a full time commitment(...it's a full time job and pays a full time salary). Ibbotson throwing his hat in the race for Maumelle alderman shows his lack of commitment to his parks position which he originally committed to. This act shows his true integrity to his word when he interviewed for the job. Ibbotson worked for 15+ years for Maumelle, grew tired of the job, made a career change for a couple of years, then wanted another city job. Conway had a job opening and he chased it hard even though it is now obvious that he is looking elsewhere with the new gig at Maumelle.

Anonymous said...

Steve Ibbotson has destroyed in a few months of what great things that Brian Knopp has built up for over 25 years. Brian Knopp had built great relationships with citizens and employees including building great physical facilities. Steve was too ignorant to see that relationships were more important than facilities. Steve only saw facilities and not relationships except with council members. Long time employees have left their park/rec positions. Long time citizen complaints have gone unanswered. Since he lives in Maumelle, he can run to his Maumelle alderman position and keep his relationships there.

Anonymous said...

Steve Ibbotson thru Conway Parks spends a fortune mowing and maintaining soccer fields, baseball fields, and softball fields. Very little maintenance is required for a tennis court and he can't find time or funds to maintain them? Several fire ant mounds of least seven feet long line the sidewalks and one mound is at least three feet in diameter. Brian Knopp, the former Conway Parks director, always took great pride in keeping the parks looking well groomed. Knopp knew that the citizens appreciated it, and new visitors and future citizens saw the parks as a reflection of the city itself.

Anonymous said...

Repairing and maintaining relationships with employees and citizens is a more difficult task than repairing and maintaining park facilities. A truly successful park's director is proficient at both.

Happy Holidays to All!!!
2011 was a fun year. The ATA has a new executive director, a change in the tennis director position at Burns Park, and numerous other exciting tennis events that occurred in 2011. Keep up the hard work and let's see tennis continue to grow! We need to replace other foot draggers that are hindering the growth of our fun sport, namely a few park directors and inadequate city officials across the state. We should first try to educate them from their ignorance but if the task is too difficult then we need to replace them. Drive safely over the holidays!!!
