Shelley Mehl Wastes Money of Taxpayers in Conway on $133,000 Christmas Tree Purchase

Shelley Mehl, who serves on the City Council of Conway, chose to bypass competitive bidding on an extremely overpriced $133,000 Christmas tree purchase. Shelley Mehl's history of  reckless spending of taxpayer's monies has caused the city budget to be mismanaged to the point that the firemen and policemen were forced to sue the city for failure to provide pay raises promised them from a 1/4% sales tax (Read Arkansas Business article by Kate Knable on October 1, 2012 of Russell Wood Law Firm lawsuit on behalf of city workers).

Shelley Mehl says that she supports families and children, but in reality Mehl has caused severe pain and agony to these precious city employees and their children by causing layoffs and no pay raises for them.

Call Shelley Mehl at 501-450-0004 or email her at shelley.mehl@cityofconway.org and let her know that you are disappointed in her reckless spending of your hard-earned money. Shelley Mehl's City Council term ends December 2014.

Serena Williams inches by Maria Sharapova for record sixth Miami title

(Reuters) - World number one Serena Williams fought back from a set down to beat Maria Sharapova 4-6 6-3 6-0 and win the Sony Open for a record sixth time on Saturday as she continued her dominance over her closest rival.

With the win, Williams, who struggled with her serve in the first two sets, becomes only the fourth woman in the Open era to win the same WTA tournament six times, joining Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert and Steffi Graf.

"I finally have some record," Williams said. "Like it's really cool. I can't seem to catch up with Margaret Court or Steffi or anything. I'm really happy to have something right now, so it's exciting.

"I had my chances. There's no reason why I couldn't win the match today," said Sharapova, who dismissed any suggestion of a psychological weakness against Williams.

"It was a step in the right direction and there's no doubt that we'll be playing many more times. There's no doubt I'll be able to beat her."

"Maria played really the best I have seen her play, and I think she was moving unbelievable and she was hitting winners from everywhere. .... How did I end up winning when I actually wasn't on top of my game?"

Andy Murray goes to #2 in the ATP World Rankings with Miami tie-break win over Ferrer

(Reuters) - Britain's Andy Murray defeated Spain's David Ferrer 2-6 6-4 7-6 in a grueling and enthralling Sony Open final on Sunday to move above Roger Federer to second in the world rankings.

Murray was far from at his best against a dogged Ferrer but won the tie-break 7-1 after surviving a scare when the Spaniard had match point at 6-5 up, with Murray serving, in the third.

Murray's forehand landed close to the line and he faced a challenge from Ferrer, who called out rather than play the shot, but the ball was shown in, and the Scot won the next two points to force the tie-break.

"It was such a tough match, it could have gone either way, both of us were struggling physically at the end," said Murray whose victory was his second at Miami following his triumph in 2009.

"It's so tough against him. He has a great attitude, he's a great fighter. I am sure we will have more tough matches in the future."

Tone Up with Tennis!!! Get Fit Today!

If you are looking for a fun, challenging way to lose weight and tone your body, then try tennis! Spending extra time on a tennis court chasing a little yellow ball will give you toned legs, sculpted arms, and a killer core while having fun, too.

Here are some of the benefits of tennis for weight loss and body tone...

- Tennis is a sport that really requires you to keep moving. The more you move, the more calories you burn. As you dash around the court chasing the ball, you will be running, jumping, hopping and skipping without even realizing it.

- Tennis conditions your body not only for weight loss, but also for building up lean, strong muscles as well. You do not have to lose weight to play tennis, or be conditioned in any way, because a great deal of the conditioning will come from the game play itself.

- Tennis easily burns more calories than walking or running and better conditions your body as well. Because tennis involves moving around to catch the ball, using your arms to swing your racquet and using your abdominals to power your swings, you are using a large part of your entire body all at once.

- Tennis is easily one of the most enjoyable activities for weight loss that you can participate in. So get your friends together and have some fun. You may be surprised at what you can accomplish by using tennis as a weight loss strategy!

Whether or not you’re trying to lose weight, tone your muscles or simply stay fit, tennis is a great way to have fun, socialize and burn calories. All physical activity burns calories, even activities like standing, sitting and sleeping.
